About Half a Bubble Off Plumb

When we set up yesterday I checked the level inside the RV as it is my job. (Level is important because the refrigerator doesn't work otherwise.)  I looked at the level and the bubble didn't look that far off - not enough to warrant putting the "lego" blocks under the tire. So we unhooked from the truck, got set up and discovered that we should have put the blocks under the tires. We were walking at a tilt - like drunken sailors on a moving ship.  At one point I almost felt as if I was going to fall sideways into the wall.  Too late to fix it last night, so this morning after breakfast we pulled the sliders in, hooked up to the truck, and Roger put two levels of blocks down while I was out walking Maggie.  We checked the level.  Too far the other way.  Moved the rig off, got rid of one layer and backed it back onto the blocks.  What a pain as we were also having to position the RV so that a utility pole was between the sliders.  It's still not perfect - only slightly off plumb - but the door to the bathroom doesn't swing closed and the fridge doors don't swing open.

We are now in the desert.  I could feel the moisture being sucked out of my skin yesterday on the drive once we dropped out of the mountains.  I snapped two finger nails off so today had to cut the rest off.  It was nice having nails that went past the end of my fingers for a change.  No more.  Then last night our noses plugged up - what we call "Nevada nose."  Dry membranes.  Had to get up and find the saline solution.  Such a headache I had.  In addition, yesterday, we lost an hour.  All of the above was very discombobulating to our systems (along with walking like we were at sea).  I think we have acclimated today to our new environment.

Unlike Santee Lakes this place is lighted up at night.  Porch lights, street lights, lighted fake palm trees, and right outside our bedroom window a spotlight on they guy's flag.   Did I mention it was bright outside?  We probably wouldn't have noticed it too much except that it was quite warm and we (well, I) needed the window by the bed open for air.  Rog put on his eye mask.  I didn't bring mine.

We spent a few hours driving around looking at RV parks.  We drove through eight of them.  They are all basically the same - some very well cared for and others pretty seedy looking.  The nicer ones have mostly park models (single wide vacation homes) and spaces all landscaped.  People come for the season and it's a community during the winter - the same people show up every year.  There were a couple that had some nice RV spots and we will keep them in mind.

We had a long discussion this afternoon about what we want to do in the future.  Too many options with each having pros and cons.  It would really help if we knew what we wanted to do - long stays, short stays, get a park model, get a lot to park the RV, and where?  Arizona? California?   We just don't know.  Lots to consider.

Next to this place is a huge empty lot.  It looks as if someone bought it to develop and then didn't.  Across the street from it there are lots that have been fenced with brick fences - but no homes.  Funding ran out?  The area is a good place to take Maggie for our walk.  One trip from our house to a stop sign at the end of the empty space and back is a mile, so we did it twice today.  I didn't notice the flowers so much this morning (still headachy) but this evening they really popped out at me. I have no idea what any of them are, but they are very pretty variety of delicate flowers showing us that the desert isn't a wasteland.
